Bass, Guitar, Piano & Songwriting
Mark Roman is a bassist, songwriter, and music educator. Since 2007 he's been teaching piano, bass, guitar, and violin lessons dedicated to cultivating musicality through ear-training.
As a young bassist, Mark learned on the job from old-school New York musicians in the Woodstock area. His early mentors included The Mose Allison Trio alumni, The Tito Puente Orchestra, The Horace Silver Quintet, and The Jazz Messengers. Two years of pre-college classical studies at the Juilliard School he concluded his training as an orchestral bassist.
Following a bachelor's degree in jazz music from SUNY Purchase, Mark was based in Brooklyn from 2008 to 2011, performing throughout Appalachia and around New York City. During a decade spent cutting his teeth in Berlin as a songwriter & recording artist, he also worked as a musician and educator, collaborating with several touring artists.
Mark also holds a master's degree in music therapy from the Berlin University of the Arts and has a decade of experience in the German clinical healthcare system. In 2023, he returned to the Catskill Mountains and is now based in Kingston, New York.
