max liebman
upright and electric bass, Recording and production
Max Liebman is a musician, composer, audio engineer, record producer, and educator based in Kingston, NY. Equally comfortable on electric bass guitar and acoustic double bass, he has played with rock bands, jazz ensembles, southern troubadours, traditional Texas five-pieces, indie-pop songwriters, folk groups, and ambient soundscape projects. He has toured the country, playing shows in every major city and many small towns in between.
Since 2010, Max has taught private music lessons in bass, piano, guitar, ukulele, and music production to students of all ages. His goal is to provide each and every student a space where they feel comfortable to be themselves, a space where the learning is contextualized to their lives, a space where they feel empowered and that their voice matters. Max holds a Bachelor of the Arts in Music degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey and a Master of Music Education degree from Boston University.
In the studio, Max has years of experience on both sides of the glass. After an apprenticeship with studio legend Lou Gonzalez at QUAD Studios Lakeside, Max began engineering and producing records with up-and-coming acts. He continues to make records and subscribes to the philosophy of using the studio itself as an instrument of creativity.
